The Timber Group is a deliberately small studio of designers, engineers, and master joiners based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a timber shop in New Richmond.
The Timber Group began with a simple belief: a timber frame should feel permanent the moment it is raised. Today we are based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with our shop in New Richmond, where raw timbers are laid out, cut, fitted, and finished before they ever arrive on site.
More than a hundred and twenty projects later, that standard has not moved. We have grown into a studio of designers, engineers, and master joiners, but every frame still passes through human hands before it stands in the light.
We stay small on purpose. We take on no more than six major projects a year so a principal can be present at every raising and a master framer can cut every critical joint.

Halvard apprenticed in traditional Scandinavian timber framing before founding the studio in 1998. He has personally cut the critical joinery on every flagship home the firm has raised.

A licensed architect, Marisol leads our collaboration with clients' design teams, turning drawings into frames that can be cut, raised, and maintained.

Theo runs the New Richmond shop floor, where green and kiln-dried timbers become draw-bored joints. He trains every framer who cuts under our name.

Renata stamps every frame we raise, modeling each member for the wind, snow, span, and code requirements of the site.
