We found the original frame collapsed in a Vermont field - a 1790s English tying-joint barn of hand-hewn oak. Piece by piece we documented, dismantled, and trucked it south to our shop.
Where members had rotted, we scarfed in new oak with traditional joinery, matching the adze marks of the original hewers. The restored frame was then raised at the heart of a new, quietly modern home.
Old and new meet without apology: ancient timber against white plaster, wrought iron against warm glass.
